JOSH DARE gets raw with one half of the Red Raw team, Dean Murphy

So how did you get into organising parties?

I was working at Fox FM in promotions and had run events for over 6 years at the time when my business partner Bill and myself were asked to run our first party: Raw Hide.

How did you get involved in Red Raw?

Bill and I were asked to come on board with The ALSO foundation and Agent Mad to produce the party 18 months ago. Red Raw, for a number of reasons, was decreasing in numbers and had hit a cross road. It was incredibly important for this historic party to yet again be successful, not only to continue much needed funds for The ALSO foundation, but so our community as a whole continued to have a celebration party once a year. 2005 saw the return of a great party and helped re-build its reputation.

How is Red Raw different from other dance parties?

Red Raw is different from other parties because it’s the one party of the year that allows people to truly let go and has an incredible wow factor. It also has a 23 year history which for so many people brings back so many memories of fun and exciting times. And people just need to realise that they haven't just turned up to another dance party but their efforts in doing so have helped kick start an exciting new project to help homeless youths.

What have you got in store for Red Raw 2006?

Red Raw is taking over the Metro for the first time, which is a massive venue – perfect for the crowd that’ll be coming. There’s three dance rooms and a chill / play room, and without a doubt the DJ line up is one of the best for such a diverse crowd of people and we have worked hard to get the right mix of DJs with the right energy. The shows will be incredibly exciting with Human Nature doing the 1am show and a 5am surprise that will blow people away. Let’s just say the theme of the night leans toward Saturday night fever so go crazy!

And most importantly: where will we find you on the night?

All over the place like a mad woman's spit!
