The Bitch Is Red
JOSH DARE goes north-side for the Glasshouse.
Tomorrow, the Glasshouse comes alive for regular night The Bitch Is Black – a celebration of disco divas from the 70s to the 90s with DJs Amazing Grace, Sandy Crack, Gavin Campbell and MC Dolly. The night has become a bit of a drawcard for the ‘House, with the thematically styled tunes appealing to so many different demographics. Just think: a clash between 70s-style platform shoes clad women versus grunge laden chicks of the 90s, with some big haired 80s ladies in the middle. You don’t wanna miss it. And you especially won’t want to miss its approaching second birthday in March. Get on down to the house after 9pm on the first Saturday of each month.
And coming up at the Glasshouse on February 16 is Red. Described by organisers as a ‘freedom of self expression’ night, it’ll be a unique melding pot of music, performance and art. As well as belly dancers and fire twirlers, it will feature performances by singer / songwriters Pina Tuteri, Di Watson, Jayne Lilford, Jemima Jones, Sivan Gabrielovich. If that’s not enough, you’ll also see painting, multimedia or photography from exhibiting artists including Alisa Vescio, Jemima Jones, Maz Clemens, Silvana, Alisha Keogh, Josie Kristensen, Margaret Vescio, Tony Vescio, with DJ Silvana providing the accompanying beats. It all kicks off around 6:30pm, and your $10 entry gets you a free pot of beer – score!
