MCV 271 – Mecca Cruise

JOSH DARE floats his boat with Mecca

Remember that movie Speed with Sandra Bullock? It was so totally awesome, eh, like – whoa! There’s this bus with this bomb on it and it’ll blow up if it goes under 50 miles per hour. Gnarly. So then the movie studio obviously sat down and said hey, there’s still milk in this cash cow; what else can we do? Then I bet some smarmy geezer wearing a beret came in and said hey, why don’t we just take all the best bits of the original movie and put them on a boat? Bet something similar happened with the Mecca crew, ‘cept I doubt they were wearing berets and this boat ride will definitely not be shithouse.

Their last awesome soiree – a pastel production at Public Office – was a brilliant party that carried on Mecca’s unique boutique feel, and proved that mixed events can work, and that all people can get into the groove an open space. Plus let’s not forget the perve factor with all those straight guys around.

And now, they’re bringing the vibe to the water for a grand finale and tribute to the awesome summer season. Mecca’s first nautical foray boards at 6:30pm on Saturday March 25 for a departure at 7pm sharp (and don’t be late, the sea waits for no landlubbers). It all takes place aboard Victoria Star Cruiser, and DJs Peter Mac & Mr Stoj will be pumping the tunes til 11pm when the party winds down – but don’t stress. All you boat people can continue partying at the official recovery at The Candy Bar.

Tickets $35 plus booking fee (more at the port), available at Hares & Hyenas or by emailing us info@mecca.com.au
